The Story Behind Every Recipe
From a small kitchen with big dreams to sharing culinary adventures with food lovers across America

From Curiosity to Culinary Passion
It all started in my grandmother’s kitchen in Portland, Oregon. I was eight years old, standing on a wooden stool, mesmerized by the way she could transform simple ingredients into something magical. Her hands moved with such confidence, seasoning by intuition, tasting with wisdom earned through decades of feeding a family.
That curiosity never left me. Through high school, I was the kid experimenting with fusion flavors while my friends ordered pizza. College meant late-night cooking sessions that turned my dorm into an unofficial restaurant. My roommates became my first critics and biggest supporters.
After earning my degree in Communications, I made what seemed like a crazy decision to my family: culinary school. The Culinary Institute of America taught me technique, but more importantly, it taught me that cooking is about connecting with people through shared experiences around the table.
My Cooking PhilosophyMy Cooking Style
Food is more than sustenance—it’s storytelling, comfort, celebration, and connection all rolled into one beautiful experience
Fresh & Seasonal
I believe the best meals start with the freshest ingredients. When you cook with seasonal produce at its peak, you’re already halfway to an incredible dish. Nature knows what it’s doing.
Made with Love
Every recipe I share comes from the heart. Whether it’s a weeknight dinner or a special occasion feast, I want you to feel the care that goes into each step, each flavor combination, each moment of creation.
Home Kitchen Friendly
Restaurant techniques are beautiful, but home cooking is where the magic really happens. I create recipes that work in real kitchens with real schedules, using ingredients you can actually find.
My Culinary Journey
The key moments that shaped my approach to food and cooking
Culinary Institute of America
Graduated with honors and a deep understanding of classical techniques. More importantly, I learned how to taste with intention and cook with purpose. My final project was a seven-course tasting menu inspired by childhood memories.
Restaurant Experience
Worked as sous chef at three acclaimed restaurants in Seattle. The fast pace taught me efficiency, but I missed the personal connection with the people eating my food. I realized my heart belonged in home kitchens, not commercial ones.
BlixFood is Born
Started this blog to share the recipes and stories that matter most to me. What began as a simple way to document family recipes has grown into a community of food lovers who believe that cooking is one of life’s greatest joys.
Behind the Scenes
A peek into my kitchen, my process, and the little details that make each recipe special

Food Photography
I photograph every dish myself using natural light and simple styling. My goal is to show you exactly what the finished recipe will look like—no unrealistic perfection, just honest, appetizing food.
Ingredient Sourcing
I shop at local farmers markets twice a week and maintain relationships with trusted suppliers. Quality ingredients are the foundation of great cooking, and I only recommend what I personally use.
Fun Facts About Me
The quirky details that make me who I am in and out of the kitchen
I drink exactly two cups of coffee every morning before I even think about cooking. My brain doesn’t function without caffeine.
Jazz music plays in my kitchen 90% of the time. Miles Davis and good food just go together perfectly.
I grow my own hot peppers and always have at least 12 varieties growing. Ghost peppers are my current obsession.
I own cookbooks and still buy a new one every month. My cookbook collection is my pride and joy.
