Apple nachos with peanut butter are a fun, quick, and wholesome snack featuring crisp apple slices drizzled with creamy peanut butter, honey, and a variety of playful toppings. Perfect for after school, playdates, or a sweet treat, this recipe is endlessly customizable and loved by kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large fresh apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Granny Smith), about 1 lb
  • 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons raisins or dried cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons granola
  • 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, or almonds, optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (from 1/2 lemon)
  • Optional toppings: shredded coconut, chia seeds, flax meal, cinnamon, flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples. Core and slice into thin wedges (about 1/4 inch thick). Toss slices in lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Arrange apple slices on a large platter or board in overlapping rows or a circular pattern.
  3. Warm peanut butter in a microwave-safe bowl for 20-30 seconds, stirring halfway, until pourable but not hot. (Alternatively, heat gently in a saucepan over low heat.)
  4. Drizzle warm peanut butter evenly over the apple slices. Follow with honey, if using.
  5. Sprinkle mini chocolate chips, raisins or dried cranberries, granola, and chopped nuts (if using) evenly over the apples.
  6. Add any extra toppings you like, such as coconut flakes, chia seeds, or cinnamon. For best crunch, add granola just before serving.
  7. Serve immediately while apples are crisp and peanut butter is soft. For parties, set out toppings in bowls for DIY nachos.

Notes

Use crisp apple varieties for best texture. Warm peanut butter gently to avoid graininess. Customize toppings based on allergies or preferences—sunflower butter for nut-free, maple syrup for dairy-free, and allergen-friendly chocolate chips. For best crunch, add granola just before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 day; apples may soften and peanut butter will firm up.
