A quick and easy cheesy garlic bread pull-apart loaf that’s perfect for snacks, potlucks, or cozy dinners. Soft bread, melted cheese, and fragrant garlic combine for a crowd-pleasing treat.

  • 1 large round loaf of bread (crusty sourdough or Italian bread recommended)
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 45 cloves garlic, minced fresh
  • 1 cup (100g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup (50g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1/4 cup (25g) grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended and fragrant.
  3. Using a serrated knife, carefully score the loaf in a criss-cross pattern about 1 inch apart, slicing almost all the way through but not cutting all the way down.
  4. Gently spread the garlic butter mixture into all the cuts using a spoon or spatula.
  5. Stuff the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses into the cuts. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top if using.
  6. Wrap the loaf loosely with aluminum foil and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden and the bread edges are slightly crisp.
  8. Let the loaf cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use softened butter, not melted, to avoid soggy bread. Cut the loaf carefully to keep it intact. Let the loaf rest before serving to allow cheese to set. For extra crispy crust, broil 1-2 minutes at the end watching closely.
