ambrosia salad recipe - featured image

A quick and easy dessert featuring whipped cream, marshmallows, juicy fruit, and coconut for a nostalgic and versatile treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8-ounce container whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 11-ounce can mandarin oranges, drained
  • 20-ounce can pineapple chunks, drained
  • 1 cup maraschino cherries, halved and drained
  • 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut
  • Β½ cup chopped nuts (optional, pecans or walnuts)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whipped topping and sour cream. Fold them together until smooth and well combined.
  2. Add the mini marshmallows to the bowl and fold gently to avoid deflating the whipped topping.
  3. Add the drained mandarin oranges, pineapple chunks, and maraschino cherries. Stir carefully to distribute the fruit evenly without crushing it.
  4. Sprinkle in the shredded coconut and chopped nuts (if using). Fold gently to ensure everything is well incorporated.
  5. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to let the flavors meld together.
  6. Before serving, give the salad a gentle stir to fluff it back up. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with more cherries or a sprinkle of coconut.

Notes

[‘Chill the salad for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld.’, ‘Drain fruit well to avoid excess liquid.’, ‘Fold gently to maintain the fluffy texture.’, ‘Can be made a day ahead for better flavor.’]
