A cozy and creamy chai spice London fog tea latte blending bergamot-infused Earl Grey tea with warming chai spices and frothy milk, perfect for chilly days and easy to customize.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Earl Grey tea bags
  • 1 ½ cups (360 ml) water
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk (whole milk recommended, or almond/oat/coconut milk for dairy-free)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla syrup
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • Whipped cream (optional topping)

Instructions

  1. Bring 1 ½ cups (360 ml) of water to a gentle boil (around 205°F / 96°C). Pour it over 2 Earl Grey tea bags in a heatproof container and let steep for 4-5 minutes. Remove tea bags and discard or compost.
  2. Whisk in the chai spice blend (cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, ginger, nutmeg) directly into the hot tea. Stir well to distribute the spices evenly. If using whole cardamom pods, strain them out now.
  3. Stir in 2 tablespoons of vanilla syrup and optional honey or maple syrup if you prefer a sweeter latte. Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
  4. Pour 1 cup (240 ml) of your chosen milk into a small saucepan. Heat gently over medium-low heat until steaming but not boiling (about 150°F / 65°C). Use a whisk or frother to vigorously froth the milk until it’s creamy and has a light foam on top.
  5. Pour the spiced Earl Grey tea into your serving mug, leaving some room for milk. Slowly add the frothed milk, holding back the foam with a spoon, then spoon the foam on top for a luxurious finish.
  6. Optionally, top with a dollop of whipped cream and a light sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra indulgence.

Notes

Use fresh ground spices for best flavor. Avoid oversteeping the tea to prevent bitterness. Whole milk froths best, but oat milk is a great plant-based alternative. If no frother, shake warm milk in a jar and microwave briefly to stabilize foam. Toasting spices before adding can enhance aroma. Store tea and milk separately if making ahead.
