A soothing and elegant latte combining the citrus notes of Earl Grey tea, floral lavender, and natural sweetness from honey, finished with creamy milk for a comforting treat.

  • 2 Earl Grey tea bags
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried culinary lavender
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk (or oat, almond, or dairy-free alternative)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) fresh filtered water

Instructions

  1. Bring 3/4 cup (180 ml) of fresh water to a gentle boil in a small saucepan or kettle (about 3-4 minutes).
  2. Place 2 Earl Grey tea bags and 1/2 teaspoon dried lavender in a heatproof mug or teapot. Pour the hot water over them and steep for 4-5 minutes.
  3. While the tea steeps, heat 1 cup (240 ml) of milk in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until warm but not boiling (about 2-3 minutes). Remove from heat and froth the milk using a frother, whisk, or by shaking vigorously in a sealed jar until light and foamy.
  4. Remove tea bags and strain out the lavender if needed. Stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons of honey while the tea is still warm. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  5. Pour the frothed milk into the tea mixture, holding back foam with a spoon to layer some on top. Add a drop of vanilla extract if using and stir gently.
  6. Optionally, garnish with a pinch of dried lavender or a light dusting of ground cinnamon.

Notes

Steep tea and lavender for 4-5 minutes to avoid bitterness. Use fresh filtered water for best flavor. Warm milk below boiling (around 150°F or 65°C) to preserve sweetness and texture. Froth milk with a frother, whisk, or shaking in a jar if no frother is available. Add honey while tea is warm for better dissolution. For vegan version, substitute milk with oat, almond, or coconut milk and honey with maple syrup or agave.
