A festive, ultra-creamy guacamole dip featuring ripe avocados, cream cheese, sour cream, and a burst of pomegranate arils for a holiday-ready snack. Perfect for parties, potlucks, or movie nights, this whimsical green dip is easy to make and guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large ripe avocados (about 600g)
  • 3 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely diced
  • 1 small jalapeño, seeded and minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (or 1 small clove fresh garlic, minced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/3 cup pomegranate arils (for topping)
  • Extra sour cream or Greek yogurt (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Halve and pit the avocados. Scoop the flesh into a medium mixing bowl.
  2. Dice the red onion, mince the jalapeño (remove seeds for less heat), chop cilantro, and measure out cream cheese and sour cream. Set aside toppings (pomegranate arils and extra sour cream or Greek yogurt for garnish).
  3. Mash the avocados using a fork, potato masher, or hand mixer until mostly smooth with a few small chunks remaining. For a super creamy texture, pulse avocados in a food processor 3–4 times.
  4. Add softened cream cheese and sour cream to the mashed avocados. Mix vigorously with a spatula until fully incorporated and pale green.
  5. Gently stir in lime juice, chopped cilantro, diced red onion, minced jalapeño, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix just until combined. Taste and adjust lime, salt, or pepper as needed.
  6. Optional: Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole and chill in the fridge for 10–15 minutes to meld flavors and preserve color.
  7. Transfer guacamole to a serving bowl or platter. Swirl a spoonful of sour cream or Greek yogurt over the top for a snowy effect. Sprinkle generously with pomegranate arils. Add extra cilantro leaves or jalapeño slices if desired.
  8. Serve with tortilla chips, pita wedges, or crunchy veggie sticks.

Notes

For dairy-free, substitute cream cheese and sour cream with plant-based alternatives. Press plastic wrap directly onto the guacamole to prevent browning. Adjust lime and salt to taste. For extra festive flair, arrange pomegranate arils in a heart shape. Guacamole is best served fresh but can be stored for up to 2 days in the fridge.
