A cozy and indulgent dessert combining hot espresso, Irish whiskey, and creamy vanilla ice cream, topped with lightly whipped cream and a sprinkle of brown sugar. Ready in under 10 minutes, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots (about 60 ml / 2 fl oz) freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee
  • 1 to 1.5 ounces (3045 ml) Irish whiskey (e.g., Jameson or Tullamore D.E.W.)
  • 2 generous scoops (about 150 grams / 5 oz) premium vanilla ice cream
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar or Demerara sugar (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) heavy cream, lightly whipped (optional)
  • A drop or two of vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew 2 shots (about 60 ml / 2 fl oz) of fresh espresso using your preferred method; espresso should be hot and slightly frothy.
  2. Lightly whip 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of heavy cream until slightly thickened but not fully whipped (optional).
  3. Place 2 generous scoops (about 150 grams / 5 oz) of vanilla ice cream into a heatproof glass or mug.
  4. Pour 1 to 1.5 ounces (30-45 ml) of Irish whiskey over the ice cream.
  5. Slowly pour the hot espresso over the whiskey and ice cream mixture, allowing the ice cream to melt and create a creamy swirl.
  6. Top with the lightly whipped cream and sprinkle 1 teaspoon of brown or Demerara sugar on top.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Use freshly brewed hot espresso for best flavor and texture. Pour espresso slowly over ice cream to create a silky swirl. Use premium vanilla ice cream for smooth creaminess. For a non-alcoholic version, substitute whiskey with vanilla or coffee syrup. Let ice cream soften slightly if too hard. Serve immediately for best contrast of hot and cold.
