A nostalgic, creamy, and sweet candy treat with a hint of cinnamon sugar coating, perfect for cozy moments and easy to make with simple pantry ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
  • Optional: pinch of nutmeg (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Soften cream cheese and butter by leaving them out at room temperature for about 30 minutes or gently microwave in 5-second bursts without melting.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese and butter using a hand or stand mixer on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes.
  3. Add vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and sifted powdered sugar gradually (about 1 cup at a time) while mixing on low speed to avoid a sugar cloud. Increase to medium speed and beat until thick and holds together well, about 3-4 minutes. Add more powdered sugar if mixture is too sticky.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the candy dough for at least 1 hour to firm up.
  5. Prepare the cinnamon sugar coating by mixing 1/2 cup powdered sugar with 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg if desired in a small bowl.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the chilled dough and roll into 1 inch diameter balls. Roll each ball gently in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
  7. Place coated candies on a parchment-lined tray spaced about an inch apart. Refrigerate for another 30 minutes to firm up before serving.

Notes

Do not rush chilling the dough to avoid sticky and uneven bites. Use good-quality cream cheese for best texture. Sift powdered sugar to avoid clumps. Keep hands cool when rolling the candy balls. The recipe is forgiving and can be adapted for vegan and nut-free diets. Optionally, press candy balls with a fork for a rustic texture. Candies keep well refrigerated for up to 2 weeks and can be frozen for 3 months.
