  • 1 teaspoon sweetener (optional: honey, maple syrup, or agave)
  • A few drops vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk: Pour 1 cup (240 ml) of milk into a small saucepan and heat over medium-low heat until hot but not boiling, about 2 to 3 minutes. Alternatively, microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring in between.
  2. Melt the white chocolate: Add 2 ounces (56 grams) of white chocolate to the warm milk and stir gently until completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat briefly if needed to avoid burning.
  3. Prepare the matcha: Sift 1 teaspoon of matcha powder into a small bowl. Add 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of hot (not boiling) water and whisk briskly in a zigzag motion for 15 to 20 seconds until frothy and smooth.
  4. Combine matcha and milk mixture: Slowly pour the melted white chocolate milk into the whisked matcha and stir gently to combine. Taste and add sweetener if desired, stirring until dissolved.
  5. Add vanilla (optional): Stir in a few drops of vanilla extract for added warmth and aroma.
  6. Serve immediately: Pour into your favorite mug, optionally top with froth or a dusting of matcha powder, and enjoy.

Notes

Use ceremonial-grade matcha for best flavor and vibrant color. Avoid boiling milk to prevent scorching. Sift matcha powder before whisking to avoid clumps.
