Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened (use full-fat for best richness)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 can (15 oz / 425 g) refried beans (low-sodium preferred)
  • 2 ripe avocados, mashed
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 cup (240 ml) chunky salsa (mild or spicy)
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup (50 g) sliced black olives
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Use a hand mixer or spatula to beat until smooth and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, then mix again to blend well.
  2. Spread the refried beans evenly in the bottom of your serving dish. Use the back of a spoon to smooth the surface.
  3. Gently spoon the cream cheese mixture over the beans. Smooth it out carefully so it covers the beans completely without mixing the layers.
  4. In a small bowl, mash the ripe avocados with lime juice and a pinch of salt. Spread this creamy, bright layer evenly on top of the cream cheese.
  5. Spoon the chunky salsa over the guacamole layer. Spread gently to keep the texture intact.
  6. Add a generous layer of shredded cheddar cheese over the salsa.
  7. Scatter sliced black olives and thinly sliced green onions on top. Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves if desired.
  8. Refrigerate the dip for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld before serving.

Notes

Soften cream cheese well before mixing to avoid lumps. Use the back of a spoon or offset spatula for smooth layers. Chill at least 30 minutes for best flavor melding. To keep guacamole from browning, add lime juice and cover tightly with plastic wrap pressed onto the surface. Optional: bake at 350Β°F (175Β°C) for 10 minutes to melt cheese and warm layers.
