Crispy Halloumi Fries Recipe with Easy Hot Honey Sauce

Golden, crispy halloumi fries paired with a sweet and spicy hot honey sauce make for the ultimate indulgent snack or appetizer.

  • 1 block halloumi cheese
  • 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) honey
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Slice the halloumi into thick fries, about Β½ inch wide and 3 inches long.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir to mix thoroughly.
  3. Lightly coat each halloumi fry in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  4. Pour about 1 inch of vegetable oil into a frying pan and heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 375Β°F (190Β°C).
  5. Carefully place the halloumi fries into the hot oil in batches, frying for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
  6. Remove the fries with tongs and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. In a small bowl, combine honey, chili flakes, and lemon juice to make the hot honey sauce. Stir well to combine.
  8. Arrange the crispy halloumi fries on a serving plate and drizzle with the hot honey sauce. Serve immediately.
