A quick and easy homemade Cajun seasoning blend with smoked paprika, garlic, cayenne, and herbs that adds bold, smoky flavor to any dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon granulated garlic
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons salt (preferably kosher salt)
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar

Instructions

  1. Measure out all your spices precisely using level measuring spoons.
  2. Combine the spices in a small mixing bowl and whisk gently but thoroughly for about 1 minute to ensure even distribution.
  3. Transfer the seasoning mix into an airtight container or spice jar using a funnel or spoon to avoid mess.
  4. Screw the lid on tight and label your jar with the date.
  5. Let the blend rest for at least 12 hours before using to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Use liberally on grilled meats, roasted vegetables, soups, or popcorn. Start with 1 teaspoon per pound of protein and adjust to taste.

Notes

For deeper flavor, lightly toast smoked paprika, dried oregano, and thyme in a dry skillet for 1-2 minutes before mixing. Let the seasoning rest for at least 12 hours before use. Adjust cayenne pepper to control heat level. Store in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months. Shake or stir before each use to redistribute spices.
