  • Fresh parsley, optional (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: Combine warm milk and active dry yeast in a small bowl. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: Whisk together flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Combine wet and dry: Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, and egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough: Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes (or use a stand mixer for 5 minutes) until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let it rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Shape the rolls: Punch down the dough, divide into 12 equal pieces, roll into balls, and arrange in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  7. Second rise: Cover rolls and let rise for 30-45 minutes. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Prepare garlic butter: Melt butter and stir in minced garlic. Brush generously over the rolls.
  9. Bake: Bake rolls for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Finish with Parmesan: Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese and optional parsley on top. Serve warm.
