Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (or substitute ground turkey or chicken)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (use panko for a lighter texture)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup grated onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup canned cranberry sauce (whole berry or jellied)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, grated onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Roll the mixture into golf ball-sized portions, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatballs for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until browned and cooked through.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, whisk together cranberry sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and soy sauce in a medium saucepan.
  6. Bring the sauce mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce to a simmer and let it thicken for 5-7 minutes.
  7. Transfer the baked meatballs to the saucepan with the sweet and sour sauce. Toss gently to coat each meatball evenly.
  8. Serve warm, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

[‘Don’t overmix the meatball ingredients to avoid dense texture.’, ‘Use fresh garlic and onion for better flavor.’, ‘Make uniform meatballs for even cooking.’, ‘Adjust sauce consistency by adding water or simmering longer.’, ‘Prep the sauce while the meatballs are baking to save time.’]
