A quick and easy homemade dessert featuring a flaky crust, creamy Nutella layer, and fresh strawberries arranged in a charming heart shape. Perfect for special occasions or a cozy treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/4 cups (160 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 tablespoons (115 g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 34 tablespoons ice water
  • 1/2 cup (150 g) Nutella
  • 1 cup (150 g) fresh strawberries, hulled and thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
  • Honey or melted chocolate for drizzle (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add cold, cubed butter and cut into flour using a pastry cutter or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs with pea-sized pieces.
  2. Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of ice water over the mixture and gently bring dough together. Add remaining tablespoon of ice water if needed, one teaspoon at a time, until dough holds together.
  3. Shape dough into a flat disc, wrap tightly in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly butter or spray the heart-shaped tart pan.
  5. Roll out chilled dough on a lightly floured surface into a 12-inch circle about 1/8 inch thick. Transfer to tart pan, press into edges, and trim excess.
  6. Line crust with parchment paper and fill with pie weights or dried beans. Bake for 15 minutes.
  7. Remove weights and parchment, bake for another 8-10 minutes until golden and crisp.
  8. Cool crust for about 10 minutes until warm but not hot.
  9. Spread Nutella evenly over the crust. If too thick, microwave for 10 seconds to soften before spreading.
  10. Arrange sliced strawberries on top of Nutella in a pretty overlapping pattern.
  11. Optionally dust with powdered sugar and garnish with fresh mint leaves. Let tart rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  12. Slice carefully with a sharp knife, wiping blade between cuts. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Keep butter and water cold to ensure a flaky crust. Use pie weights or dried beans for blind baking to prevent soggy crust. Warm Nutella slightly before spreading for easier application. Chill dough well to avoid shrinking. Use a sharp serrated knife and clean between cuts for neat slices.
