A delicious side dish featuring crispy, caramelized Brussels sprouts, smoky bacon, and a sweet maple glaze with a tangy kick from Dijon mustard.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 45 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped into small bits
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Wash the Brussels sprouts, trim off the ends, and slice them in half. Keep any loose leaves as they will crisp up beautifully.
  3. Chop the bacon slices into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together olive oil, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until smooth.
  5. Add the Brussels sprouts to the bowl with the glaze and toss until well coated.
  6. Spread the Brussels sprouts evenly on a large baking sheet and sprinkle the chopped bacon over the top.
  7. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, tossing halfway through, until the sprouts are golden brown and caramelized, and the bacon is crispy.
  8. Transfer to a serving dish and serve immediately as a side or snack.

Notes

[‘Don’t overcrowd the baking sheet to ensure even cooking and maximum crispiness.’, ‘Use fresh Brussels sprouts for the best texture and flavor.’, ‘Adjust the sweetness by reducing the maple syrup to 1 tablespoon and adding a splash of apple cider vinegar.’, ‘Keep an eye on the bacon while roasting to prevent burning.’, ‘Optional toppings include grated Parmesan or chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts.’]
