This Savory Bacon Cheese Wreath is a flaky, golden party appetizer filled with melty cheese and crispy bacon. It comes together quickly with store-bought crescent dough and is guaranteed to wow any crowd.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 8 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley or Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (for brushing)
  • Extra chopped parsley or chives, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet or pizza pan with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a frying pan over medium heat, cook bacon slices until crispy (about 6-8 minutes). Drain on paper towels, then crumble into small pieces. Let cool slightly.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine cheddar, mozzarella, crumbled bacon, green onions, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp dried parsley, and 1/4 tsp black pepper. Toss together until well mixed.
  4. Open both cans of crescent dough. Unroll and separate the triangles. Lay the triangles, slightly overlapping, in a circle on your baking sheet, with the short sides toward the center and the points facing out.
  5. Spoon the cheese and bacon mixture evenly around the base of the triangles, keeping it close to the center ring and leaving the tips free for folding.
  6. Gently pull each dough tip over the filling and tuck it under the base, pinching lightly to seal. Work your way around until you have a complete ring.
  7. In a small bowl, mix melted butter with 1/4 tsp garlic powder. Brush the tops and sides of the dough generously.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the dough is deep golden brown and the cheese is bubbling. If the tips brown too quickly, tent loosely with foil.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with extra parsley or chives if desired. Slice into wedges or let guests pull pieces off.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, skip the bacon and add sautéed mushrooms or sun-dried tomatoes. Use gluten-free crescent dough for a gluten-free option. Don’t overfill the wreath to prevent cheese from leaking out. Let the wreath rest for 5 minutes before slicing for best results.
