A quick and easy appetizer featuring mini cocktail smokies wrapped in crispy bacon and coated with tangy BBQ sauce, perfect for cozy gatherings and crowd-pleasing snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound mini cocktail smokies
  • 1012 slices thin-cut bacon
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of freshly cracked black pepper
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top if using.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the mini cocktail smokies with BBQ sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if using. Toss gently to coat evenly.
  3. Cut each bacon slice into halves or thirds depending on length. Wrap each smokie with a piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
  4. Place the bacon-wrapped smokies seam-side down on the wire rack.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bacon is crisp and caramelized, turning each smokie halfway through baking using tongs.
  6. Optional: Broil for 1-2 minutes if bacon needs extra crispiness, watching closely to avoid burning.
  7. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use thin-cut bacon for faster crisping. Do not wrap bacon too tightly to avoid sogginess. Soak toothpicks in water before use to prevent burning. Flipping smokies halfway through baking ensures even crispiness. Use a wire rack to allow fat to drip away and keep bacon crispy. For reheating, avoid microwaving to maintain bacon crunch; reheat in oven at 350°F for 10 minutes.
