These crispy air fryer salmon bites are tender inside with a crunchy exterior, coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic glaze. Ready in about 20 minutes, they make a quick, flavorful appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) salmon fillets, skin removed, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or lemon juice
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon chunks dry with paper towels to ensure crispiness. Place them in a mixing bowl.
  2. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the salmon, then sprinkle with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika (if using). Toss gently until each piece is evenly coated.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes until smooth and slightly runny. Set aside.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (204°C) for about 3 minutes.
  5. Place the salmon chunks in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd; cook in batches if necessary.
  6. Air fry for 4 minutes, then carefully flip each piece using tongs or a spatula. Cook an additional 4 minutes until salmon is opaque and flakes easily, with golden crispy edges.
  7. Remove the salmon bites and transfer to a bowl. Pour the honey garlic glaze over the hot salmon and gently toss to coat each bite thoroughly.
  8. Optionally, place the glazed salmon bites back in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes at 400°F (204°C) to set the glaze and add extra crunch. Watch closely to prevent burning.
  9. Serve immediately, garnished with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before seasoning to ensure crispiness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if needed. Apply glaze after initial cooking to prevent burning. Optionally crisp glazed bites again for 1-2 minutes. Lower temperature slightly if glaze burns or salmon dries out.
