  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • ¼ cup soy sauce (60 ml), low-sodium recommended
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (30 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (15 ml)
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes until smooth and slightly thick.
  3. Place chicken breasts in a baking dish, spreading them out so they aren’t touching.
  4. Pour half of the honey garlic mixture evenly over the chicken, turning each piece to coat. Let sit for 10 minutes if time allows.
  5. Bake uncovered for 15 minutes at 400°F (200°C). Halfway through baking (7-8 minutes), baste the chicken with the remaining sauce.
  6. Check for doneness with a meat thermometer; chicken should reach 165°F (74°C). If no thermometer, cut into the center to ensure no pink remains and juices run clear.
  7. Optional: Broil for 2-3 minutes for an extra caramelized finish, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  8. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow juices to redistribute.
