A fast and flavorful garlic butter shrimp dish ready in just 15 minutes, perfect for busy weeknights or quick dinners without sacrificing taste.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced fresh
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Rinse 1 pound (450g) of large shrimp under cold water, then pat dry with paper towels.
  2. Mince 4 garlic cloves finely and chop 2 tablespoons fresh parsley.
  3. Place a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 teaspoon olive oil. Once shimmering, add 3 tablespoons unsalted butter. Melt and let foam but do not brown immediately.
  4. Add minced garlic to the butter and sauté for about 30 seconds to 1 minute until fragrant and lightly golden, stirring constantly to avoid burning.
  5. Toss the shrimp into the skillet in a single layer. Season with salt, pepper, and optional 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes. Cook 2-3 minutes on one side until pink and just starting to curl.
  6. Turn shrimp over and cook another 2-3 minutes until fully pink and opaque, texture firm but tender. Avoid overcooking.
  7. Remove from heat and squeeze 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice over shrimp. Sprinkle chopped parsley and toss to coat evenly.
  8. Serve immediately, transferring shrimp and buttery sauce to a warm plate or bowl.

Notes

If butter browns too fast, lower heat. For more sauce, add a splash of white wine or chicken broth after cooking garlic and reduce before adding shrimp. Avoid overcrowding pan to ensure even cooking. Use fresh garlic and lemon juice for best flavor. Pat shrimp dry before cooking to get a good sear. For dairy-free, substitute butter with vegan butter or coconut oil.
