A quick and easy boozy cherry limeade slushie recipe perfect for summer, balancing tart lime, sweet cherry, and a refreshing alcoholic kick.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium fresh limes, juiced (about 1/2 cup / 120 ml)
  • 810 maraschino cherries
  • 2 tablespoons maraschino cherry juice
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar (65 grams)
  • 1 cup cold water (240 ml)
  • 1/2 cup vodka (120 ml)
  • 3 cups ice cubes (about 450 grams)

Instructions

  1. Roll the limes on the counter to soften, cut in half and juice until you have about 1/2 cup (120 ml) of fresh lime juice. Strain to remove seeds and pulp.
  2. Place maraschino cherries in the blender and pulse a few times to break them up and release their flavor.
  3. In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar with cold water until the sugar dissolves completely. Warm water slightly if needed, then chill if desired.
  4. Add the lime juice, maraschino cherry juice, simple syrup, and vodka to the blender with the muddled cherries. Blend briefly to mix all flavors.
  5. Add about 3 cups of ice cubes to the blender. Pulse and blend until the mixture reaches a slushy consistency, icy but still pourable. Adjust ice or water as needed.
  6. Pour into chilled glasses, garnish with a lime wheel or a cherry, and serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Pulse ice first before blending on medium speed to protect blender motor. Avoid too much vodka to maintain icy texture. Chill glasses before serving. Prepare simple syrup and lime juice ahead to save time. Adjust sugar and alcohol to taste and freezing ability.
